A FIRE broke out on a field in Cirencester today.
The fire happened on the field opposite Dobbies Garden Centre, by the Preston area.
Fire crew were called to the scene at 2.26pm this afternoon to a hay bale which was alight.
A fire engine and crew from Cirencester turned up and were joined by the farmer, who was already at the scene.
The fire crew used beaters to extinguish the fire and left the scene at 4pm.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The blaze could be seen by drivers travelling down the A419 Cirencester Road today and the fumes could be smelt from the village of Preston.
