ON JULY 16 the annual one mile race took part in Bourton on the Water. There were some outstanding performances.

Emily Field when she puts her mind to it produces some very good results, she won the under-15 girls race in 5mins 31secs and also became the county champion. She was also the first Bourton lady home, beating all the adults.

Kiya Dee again showed what a talent she is finishing second in five mins 40secs and winning the county silver medal.

Her sister pushed her hard to finish third in six mins seven secs and won the county bronze medal.

Helena West just missed out on the county medals, but she ran as determined and focused as ever finishing fourth in six mins nine secs. Darcy Thompson is always very consistent and races very well as she finished well up the field in sixth in seven mins four secs. Isabel Dennett again ran a very good race against girls much older than her in finish in eighth in seven mins 28secs.

In the under-20 girls Charlotte Foster had a fine run to take the county title for her age group and well deserved in six mins 21secs.

In the under-20 men’s race Robbie Hughes has been training well all summer and it showed finishing fourth in his age category in five mins 27secs and the first Bourton runner home beating all the adults as well.

In the boys under-15 race Jake Astor just missed out on a county medal in a fine run in fourth in five mins 41secs.

Callum Wooley is improving race by race and finished very well in sixth in five mins 56secs.

Once again this was a very competitive field.

Three minutes after the first race the second wave started, this contains the younger runners and the newcomers to races.
