THE top two teams met in a crucial match at Southam where hosts Cricklade moved to the top of the table with a comfortable win over high flying Bibury.

After being invited to bat Bibury got off to a good start as George Hughes (55) and Charlie Robinson (22) established a solid platform.

Sadly this was as good as it got for Bibury as both were removed by Mike Mabbatt (3-38).

The introduction of Greg Davies (5-28) then led to a collapse as the middle order were taken out and the tail was removed.

141 all out was not what the league leaders had in mind.

After one early wicket Danny Lloyd (38) was joined by Paul Dewsbury (41) and the pair took the game away from the visitors.

Ed Robinson (2-5) and Mark Hayes (2-38) gave Bibury some hope but Rhys Mills (31) strode to the crease and finished the game quickly to give Cricklade victory at 145-5 in the 26th over.

South Cerney stayed in third place with a good win at Poulton 2nd XI.

Batting first hosts Poulton posted 170-9 off their 40 overs with Mark Higginson (40) and Ian Musty (27) the main run-scorers.

Garrick Chivers (2-26), the leading wicket-taker in the league, bowled his nine overs well then Phil James (3-27) cleaned up.

Skipper Garrick Chivers (107*) capped an excellent all round performance as he then batted through the South Cerney innings scoring a fine century.

South Cerney ran out easy winners at 176-2 inside 34 overs.

Oakridge enjoyed a crushing win at a depleted Great Rissington 2nd XI.

Batting first the visitors racked up 239-5 thanks to fine contributions from Steve Robbins (92) and the league’s leading run-scorer Martin Smith (71).

After the break the required level of control and penetration was expertly demonstrated by Richard Minchin (5-18) as he blew away the Rissy top order.

Alfie Heath (2-3) cleaned up the tail as the hosts were bundled out for 49 to give Oakridge a big win.

Longborough & Sezincote lost yet another tight game this time at home to Barnsley Beeches who kept their title hope alive with this win.

The Longborough opening partnership provided a great start with Josh Newbould (87) and Henry Leonard (35) establishing a good platform.

A couple of needless run-outs started the rot then Ed Latter (5-18) ran riot and Andrew Coulter (3-6 off five overs) cleaned up to leave the hosts 182 all out.

In reply Barnsley started well enough with Andrew Walker (48) batting well but a flurry of wickets by Josh Newbould (2-34) and Carl Luker (2-38) left the visitors precariously poised.

However a hard-hitting seventh wicket partnership between Ankur (36) and Jay Thomson (26*) finished the game quickly with the visitors reaching 183-7 in only 29 overs.

At Pinkney Park hosts Sherston Magna had a much needed win over struggling Tetbury 2nd XI.

Batting first the hosts scored an impressive 235-7 After the break the Tetbury innings started well enough with James King (29) to the fore.

Once the openers had been removed by Dave Nelson (2-34) the floodgates opened as George Curtis (7-3-8-4) bowled a fantastic spell.

The end came quickly as Tetbury collapsed to 79 all out.
