STROUD Short Stories (SSS) have got love on their minds, with an event to mark the forthcoming wedding of SSS organiser John Holland to the SSS administrator Christiane Nicholson.

The twice yearly event, held at the SVA in John Street in Stroud, is now open for submissions from Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire writers.

The theme for the stories this time is 'All you need is love. Or is it?'

John said, “We did wonder if we’d have time for another Stroud Short Stories event this autumn with the wedding and all. But decided that it would be good to have an evening of love stories.

“But this is Stroud Short Stories, so we are happy to have hilarious spoofs or dark tales of obsession, and not necessarily just about people, so almost anything goes.”

Submissions are now open, but close at the end of Saturday, September 23 for the 15th SSS event which will take place on Sunday, November 5 at the SVA in John Street, Stroud, GL5 2HA.

Doors 7.30pm for a prompt 8pm start. Tickets will be £7 from the SVA website.

Submissions are free as usual. 10 stories will be chosen and their authors will read to a packed 70-strong audience at the SVA.
