Warminster Town- 4

Malmesbury Victoria- 0

MALMESBURY Victoria went into Saturday’s game in a buoyant mood after picking up a well-deserved 2-2 draw at Westbury on Wednesday night.

However Malmesbury couldn’t back up their midweek performance as they gave what was one of the poorest performances in recent years.

The tone of the game was set right from the outset when Malmesbury found themselves 1-0 behind after just eight minutes when Jack Miluk scored from close range.

One quickly became two as Neurin Jones conceded a penalty which was despatched.

Miluk led the Malmesbury back four for a merry dance and the visitors couldn’t cope with his pace and movement.

If it was not for another outstanding performance between the sticks from Adam Clatworthy, Warminster would have been out of sight at the break.

Just before the interval things became even more desperate for Malmesbury.

Matty Jenkins was fouled on the halfway line and won a free kick, only to then needlessly get up and react to the foul, subsequently saw the referee produce a straight red card.

If the travelling fans thought the half time break might give their team a chance to regroup and come out fighting in the second half they were sorely mistaken.

Just two minutes after the break the Warminster centre half was allowed to run 60 yards unchallenged from his own half and then picked out Miluk who duly notched his second of the game.

The only slight positive from a tough afternoon for Malmesbury was the introduction of last years under 18 top scorer Joe Tranter for his first team debut and he performed admirably trying to get at defenders and use his lightning quick pace.

Malmesbury will have the chance to put things right on Tuesday night when they host near neighbours Chippenham Park who are currently unbeaten without conceding a goal.
