Experts will tell owners how much their antiques are woof

EXPERTS from auctioneers Moore Allen & Innocent in Cirencester will be raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind by telling owners how much their antiques are ‘woof’.

For a suggested donation of £3 per item, Philip Allwood – a regular expert on TV shows including Bargain Hunt, Flog It, Antiques Road Trip and Cash in the Attic – and Piers Critchlow – one of the world’s leading authorities on Napoleonic camel saddles – will tell antiques owners more about their heirlooms and collectables, and give them a ‘ruff’ estimate.

The event will be held at Dobbies Garden World, Siddington, Cirencester GL7 6EU from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, September 9.

At a similar event in September 2016, Philip and Piers identified a 250-year-old timepiece by one of Europe’s foremost clockmakers – Daniel De St Leu, watchmaker to Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III – valuing it at up to £8,000.

And a folio of 100 Mountbatten Medallic History of Great Britain & The Sea medallions, struck by John Pinches in hallmarked sterling silver in 1974, was valued at between £1,000 and £1,500.

“This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about their antiques and their value – whether they are thinking of selling, or for insurance valuation purposes – while raising money for an excellent cause,” said Philip.
