A CARE home provider has announced Cirencester charity The Churn Project (TCP) as its Regional Charity of the Year.

Aura Care Living (ACL) are currently building retirement village and care home Stratton Court on the edge of the town.

TCP, based in The Waterloo, supports the most vulnerable and marginalised people in the area, including those who are lonely or have mental health issues.

Peter Lloyd, director of ACL, said of the charity: “They directly support over 1200 people each year, focusing on people who are unemployed, vulnerable families and older people by providing activities each week ranging from antenatal classes, to work clubs, to memory clubs.

“Stratton Court will also host activities and ways in which residents can get involved so we recognise the good work The Churn are doing,” he added.

The first event will be a Family Fun Day in Stratton on September 24, with the proceeds going to TCP.

“We’re very pleased to have been selected by ACL,” said Fran Embleton-Smith, CEO of TCP.

“We have been supporting local people for 16 years and it means a lot to us to have the support of local people and local businesses in return.”
