  • ON Wednesday, August 9 there will be a presentation by Roger Umpelby at the Gardening Club meeting on how to show your flowers and produce for the local show. This is in preparation for an event not to be missed. Non-members please note. The summer Flower and Produce Show is open to everyone – it is a lovely event only possible because people throw themselves into the spirit and enter their crafts and produce. The show is on Saturday, September 2. Closing date for receipt of entry forms is Tuesday, August 29. Some things that are new this year: For poultry owners: 3 eggs; for bakers: a novelty cake; for bakers: a Foccacia loaf; for children: a Lego model; for children: Christmas tree decorations; for men only: Going to seed - a floral arrangement using grasses and seed heads; for flower arrangers: a pew-end for a wedding. Also back by popular demand is the highly competitive men only Victoria Sponge cake. Programmes and entry forms are available from the Post Office and can be found at lechladegardeningclub.org.uk/
