SGB Premiership
King's Lynn Stars 40
Swindon Robins 50

THE Robins duly won their ninth successive Premiership meeting to move into second place in the table.

There could not have been a better time for Swindon to overcome King’s Lynn.

The previous weekend Stars owner and BSPA chairman Buster Chapman had sacked 2012 world champion Chris Holder and former Robins number one Troy Batchelor following their refusal to take rides in a recent home loss to Poole.

Their replacements, including Swede Tomas H Jonasson, are frankly not that strong.

Additionally team manager Dale Allitt had suffered a heart attack while general manager Rob Lyons has given up his job.

So in many ways it was no surprise to see Swindon take a 50-40 victory despite Jason Doyle pulling out after a heat one crash. The Australian was taken to hospital for x-rays and seems likely to meet the rest of this week’s Swindon meetings.

However the side rallied to take the four league points.

Alun Rossiter praised the character shown by his side to see off the new-look Stars.

Rossiter said: “It was a great performance by the boys, especially after losing Doyley so early on. Full credit to all of them – everybody dug deep and did their job. It was a tight meeting, but we came on strong towards the end and it’s another massive four points for us."

The sides were all square entering the final five races, but the impressive Tobiasz Musielak and Nick Morris joined forces for big 5-1s in heats 11 and 13 to give them the upper hand.

The pair dropped just one point apiece and helped cover the loss of Doyle when injury rider replacement kicked in.

Reserve Adam Ellis also raced to three wins in his first three races to keep them in contention in the early stages before emerging unscathed from an awkward tangle with team-mate David Bellego in the penultimate race.

Bellego continued his fine form with a solid showing, while Bradley Wilson-Dean recovered from a tough start to deliver possibly the ride of the night to blast around the outside and win heat 12.

Although guesting reserve Jake Knight struggled to make an impact, the Robins emerged with all four points.

KING’S LYNN: Kai Huckenbeck 11, Robert Lambert 6+1, Thomas Jorgensen 6+1, Josh Auty 5+2, Tomas H Jonasson 5, Simon Lambert 4+2, Michael Palm-Toft 3.

SWINDON: Tobiasz Musielak 13+2, Nick Morris 13+2, Adam Ellis 11, David Bellego 9, Bradley Wilson-Dean 4, Jake Knight 0, Jason Doyle 0.
