A ‘VULNERABLE’ woman who was on a rooftop in Sherston for more than 24-hours, is now "safely down", police have confirmed.
The woman, believed to be in her thirties, was first spotted on the roof of a building on Gaston Lane yesterday afternoon.
However, a police spokesman confirmed at 3.20pm today: "She is now safely down off the roof."
A resident of the village told the Standard this morning: “A poor lady has been on a roof in the village since four or five o’clock yesterday afternoon.
“It is the talk of the village.”
She said, as well as a police negotiator, there were also six police cars, three fire engines and two ambulances on the scene.
The spokesman for Wiltshire Police had said: “We are currently attending an incident in Sherston involving a vulnerable woman on the roof of a property.
“Fire, ambulance and police are there and are dealing with the situation.
“No-one has been injured.”
He said a number of local roads may be affected as emergency service vehicles come and go.
