A 51-year-old Northleach man accused of 14 sex offences against two girls - including six charges of rape - has today been committed for crown court trial.

At Cheltenham Magistrates' Court, Kevin Blackwell, formerly of Welful Lake House, Northleach, but now of no fixed address, faced three charges of indecent assault, three of having unlawful sexual intercourse, six of rape, one of sexual activity with a girl, and one of gross indecency.

The charges say the two girls were under 14 at the time of the alleged offences, which are all said to have occurred in Bibury between 1992 and 2004.

The magistrates gave Mr Blackwell bail ahead of his first appearance at Gloucester Crown Court on August 24.

The only bail condition imposed was that he must not contact the two complainants.
