Malmesbury School pupils will be performing on the main stage at the opening night of WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) again this year.

Folk group Sheelanagig (sheelanagig.co.uk) held workshops last week with Malmesbury School pupils and some pupils from neighbouring primary schools: Malmesbury, Lea & Garsdon, Minety and Brinkworth Earl Danby’s.

The performance will be at the Abbey on Tuesday, July 18 and the opening night of the international arts festival WOMAD on Thursday, July 27.

Sheelanagig play a selection of traditional and European folk music dating from the medieval times to the present day.

They are focusing on the singing while Debbie Corscadden and her team at Malmesbury School are choreographing the dancing.

The school are also supplying some of the instrumentalists.
