SOME 160 teams competed in nine age groups at the 17th running of the popular Malmesbury Youth Football Club festival.
A total of 427 games were scheduled over the two-day festival but the organisation was spot on.
Teams playing at Under-9 through to U15 played competitively, while the U7s and U8s just had fun with awards for the most sporting teams.
Honours in 2017 went to:
U7: Fair Play Award – Wroughton.
U8: Fair Play Award – Malmesbury Youth.
U9: Castle Combe 0 Swindon Supermarine 1.
U10: Castle Combe 1 Malmesbury Youth 1. Malmesbury won 4-3 on penalties.
U11: Lydiard Youth Hammers 1 Lydiard Youth Irons 1-0.
U12: Chippenham Eagles 0 Salisbury 2.
U13: Bristol Rovers Blues 1 Bristol Rovers Whites 0.
U14: Mangotsfield Maroon 0 Mangotsfield Yellow 0. Yellows won 2-1 in penalty shootout.
U15: Cirencester Town 2 Swindon Youth 4.
Malmesbury Youth U10s proved a rare winner in this tournament for the hosts and bodes well for this age group in the future.
