IT’S that time of year again when some the world’s most exciting aircraft and pilots take to the skies above the Cotswolds.
The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), which starts today until Sunday (July 16) at RAF Fairford, is all about America this year.
Following on from the July 4 festivities last week, US celebrations will continue at the America-themed air show which will be marking the 70th anniversary of the US Air Force.
Six of the main aircraft types currently operated by the USAF in Europe from bases in the UK and Germany, will perform a special parade across all three days to mark the occasion.
Air Tattoo spokesman Richard Arquati said: “The flypast makes up one of the largest displays of US Air Force air power seen in the skies at RIAT for many years, backing up displays by the Thunderbirds demonstration team and the F-22A Raptor.
“With several further USAF aircraft on static display, it will add up to an anniversary celebration to remember.”
