A 34-YEAR-OLD thief who broke into several businesses in Cirencester has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Andrew Coombes, of Murdock Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, admitted a number of offences when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates, before being jailed on June 27.

Coombes entered an office at Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool (September 17) and Stan Gough electrical shop in the town on (September 30), last year with intent to steal.

Following the latter offence, he was found near the scene by Cotswold Police Sergeant Garrett Gloyn, hiding in a bush.

This year, in similar fashion, he entered Salon 7 hairdressers in The Waterloo area of town on April 8 and between April 7 and 10 he entered Kingshill School, both with intent to steal.

Between April 7 and 10, Coombes also stole a £600 bicycle belonging to Katie Poole.

A number of the offences were committed while Coombes, who is a former resident of Cirencester, was on a community order.

Magistrates jailed him for 12 weeks and ordered him to pay £500 compensation.
