AN air ambulance was seen landing in a cow field in Stratton over the weekend.
John Bass spotted the Thames Valley air ambulance landing on Saturday in the field opposite the Abbey Way garage at around 8.30pm.
He then managed to take a number of photos, including ones of the two paramedics as they carried equipment, including a defilbrillator, to the allotments in Bowling Green Lane.
John, who lives in Gloucester Street, said there were also two South Western ambulances at the scene.
“Two paramedics had to wade through long grass, and a few pats, and cross the River Churn to get to the allotments in Bowling Green Lane,” said John.
“The two paramedics were carrying huge rucksacks and a defibrillator.”
He said the pair then returned about 45 minutes later – “I assume via the road at Bowling Green Lane – and then via the footpath into the field through a pedestrian kissing gate on Abbey Way”.
After “making checks for onlookers and cows the air ambulance took off into the sunset”, said John.
A spokeswoman for Great Western Air Ambulance, said the Thames Valley crew were called in because the local crew were attending another job in Gloucestershire.
The Standard has contacted Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Great Western Ambulance Service for more details.
