ORGANISERS of two local franchises of Wagging Tails home from home dog boarding were delighted to hand over a donation to the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Hilary Coates, who runs a branch in North Wiltshire, Alexis Bennett, who runs a Gloucestershire branch, attended an event at the Hearing Dogs headquarters where they gave a cheque for £10,000 tocommunity fundraising manager Nicholas Orpin.
Hilary said: “Attending a talk and look round Hearing Dogs HQ gave both of us an insight into what a huge difference a hearing dog can make to the life of a deaf person.
“It’s so inspirational to find out how clever these dogs are and how they really transform the lives of their recipients.
“We hope to raise a lot more money over the coming years.”
Hilary and Alexis will be co-hosting a fundraising day for Hearing Dogs in September called Take the Plunge.
The day will involve volunteer ‘casualties’ being sponsored for a lake resuce by trained Newfoundland dogs.
The event will take place at South Cerney outdoor education centre on Saturday, September 9.
