  • A NUMBER of Chedworth gardens will open this weekend from 11am-5.30pm. There is also a flower festival in St Andrews Church. Park and ride from Chedworth Village Hall. £5 tickets in aid of the Friends of St Andrews Church and the Chedworth Horticultural society.
  • CHEDWORTH Drama’s production of The Merchant of Venice in the gardens of Chedworth Manor continues this evening until Saturday, June 24, at 7.30pm. Gardens open for picnics etc from 6pm. The Saturday matinee is at 2.30pm, with gardens open from 1pm. Tickets may still be available from shakespearemanor.com or phone 01285 831101. The Seven Tuns Inn is also offering pre-theatre supper and lunch menus for £14 in time for the performances, phone 01285 720 630.
  • THE planning application for the mobile telephone pole on the ‘Diggers Field’ at the airfield end of the playing field has been submitted. This is the alternative site offered by the Parish Council in place of the Calmsden Road site. The reference number is 17/02235/TELEC and can be viewed online at publicaccess.cotswold.gov.uk/online-applications.
  • THE A429 Foss Way is due to be closed at the Hare and Hounds Foss Cross for the rest of this week and until Friday June 30, from 7.30am until 7pm. This is South towards Cirencester until June 28 and then North towards Chedworth Turning on June 29 and 30. 
  • THE results of the village survey are available on the Parish Council’s website chedworthpc.org.uk. Highway maintenance, grass verges, conservation and biodiversity were matters included as being important to villagers and the Council will use the information to help shape future decision making.

  • THIS weekend’s Northleach Charter Fair is set be another entertaining event. The day starts with a Fairytale Parade leaving from the Market Place at 10.45am and arriving at the playing field for the Wake and Shake. Junkfish crafts, the fairground, mini golf and tennis will keep the little ones busy. The central arena is back with a host of demonstrations throughout the day alongside a wide range of stalls run by local businesses and community groups. Refreshments available include a BBQ, teas in the church and an ice cream. The music starts at midday with acts throughout the afternoon. The Charter Fair closes after the raffle at 4.30pm and the Music Festival begins at 5pm. A great family day out with free admission.
  • INTRODUCTION to Weaving on Friday, July 7 from 10am-4pm at The Cotswolds Discovery Centre. Spend the day with local textile designer and hand-weaver, Rebecca Connolly, exploring the craft of weaving. Suited to all ages and those with little experience; however for students who have some experience the course will develop your technique and design skills. £65 per person including all materials, tuition and refreshments.   • THE Active Together exercise class is held at The Westwood Centre, Northleach every Tuesday between 3-4 pm. Cost is £5. The class is aimed at those who are less active and need help with balance to prevent falls in particular. It is also for people with medical conditions who need gentle exercise to build up strength and co-ordination. The class can be taken either sitting or standing whichever is most convenient.  Beneficial and lots of fun.
