IT was fantastic to see such a great turnout at the car wash in Malmesbury to help raise money for victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
The people affected by the tragedy have lost everything, most have lost family, friends and loved ones; all have lost their homes and their possessions and now their lives are in chaos.
It is at times like this that the best of the human spirit is shown, when communities come together to help people they have never met before and will probably never know in the future.
The fundraiser demonstrates that we are only strong when we work together to help each other.
Lucy Brown organised the event using her own initiative, personifying Malmesbury’s spirit.
Praise must also go to Malmesbury and Cricklade fire crews, who worked together to host the car wash, to all the volunteers who made it happen and to everyone who donated towards the £1,017 total.
The money will make a difference to the people who need it most.
