A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Cricklade Street, Cirencester this morning.

South West Ambulance Services said that they received a call at 9.47am to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian suffered a hip injury and one ambulance vehicle attended to take the woman to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

Police said the female pedestrian's injuries are not thought to be serious.

The collision appears to have happened at the junction between Cricklade Street and Castle Street. No arrests have been made.

Cricklade Street has been a topic of concern for many residents as it is closed to vehicles from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

The only exemptions to the restriction are vehicles serving shops within Cricklade Street.

But residents said that they are seeing more cars enter the street illegally. Several motorists have already been fined by police for flouting the new restrictions.
