MEMBERS of Cirencester Tennis Club celebrated the handing over of a 30-year lease for the club at the Bathurst Estate.

The club has been at the venue, opposite Cirencester Cricket Club, for nearly 25 years and has extended its stay there.

Lord and Lady Bathurst carried out the formal presentation of the lease on Sunday, June 18, with Lady Bathurst promising to attend some of the drill sessions in future.

Current chair Adrian Potter expressed the club's thanks for allowing certain works to be incorporated into the lease.

He also thanked the three former committee members – Hugh Yarrow, Katie Ballard and Paul Harris (ex-chair) – who were instrumental in putting together the proposal to the estate, as well as volunteer committee members for their work in keeping the club running smoothly.

The club offers all-year-round tennis on seven courts, four of which are floodlit, and has ten plus teams participating in league tennis throughout Gloucestershire.

It welcomes players of all ages and abilities and potential new members can try out the club by attending any one of the club sessions up to three times for free.
