AN Italian restaurant in Fairford has welcomed a new management team.

Many customers of Colosseo Ristorante will miss the smiling faces of Zeus and Giuseppe, who took over the on London Street eatery three years ago.

But they are now handing over the reins to family members who promise to be just as friendly and welcoming.

Valerio Orfeo has taken over as financier, while Marco Pit Cocco is director and his cousin Francesco Masia has been named as the new manager.

This week head chef Alessandro Gianati – who has previously worked in a two star Michelin restaurant – will start to create his magic in the kitchen.

Changes include some slight alterations to the menu, while all the food will be prepared fresh on site, though the cost of eating at Colosseo will remain affordable.

Marco has said from next week the restaurant will be open seven days a week, even on Mondays, and there are plans to introduce cocktails, fine wines and draught Italian beers, such as Peroni on tap.

Zeus and Giuseppe have assured that they will not be far away and plan to stay involved in the business.

Giuseppe may even still help out in the restaurant at weekends.
