GLOUCESTERSHIRE star Jack Taylor is to make his debut for Lechlade CC on Saturday, an arrangement first revealed by the Standard.
In what is a massive coup for the club team, Taylor’s light schedule with the county in June – they have just two games, both four-dayers – allows him to play three games in WEPL Premier One this month starting this weekend with the visit to league leaders Downend.
The deal was brokered by Taylor's golf buddy, Lechlade chairman Arthur Jupp.
Taylor was man of the match when Gloucestershire won the Royal London One-Day Cup final at Lord’s two seasons ago and he has been in terrific form for his county already this season.
In what should be a mouth-watering clash, Taylor is likely to face his Gloucestershire team-mate Ian Cockbain.
Spurned by the county in championship games, Cockbain has instead been helping out Downend – with spectacular effect.
Last Saturday's match-winning 131 not out against Potterne followed another game-changing innings of 103 against Bedminster the previous weekend.
Let battle commence.
