IT IS usually couples going to a restaurant to celebrate a significant anniversary but in the case of Jesse’s Bistro owners Amol Patil and Vanessa Curnock are the ones popping the champagne corks this summer.

The pair took over the restaurant in Black Jack Street, Cirencester, two years ago when they returned to the UK from Australia.

Both had serious restaurant experience, Amol being a trained chef and having worked for John Torode at Smith’s of Smithfield as well as Neil Snowball’s Guernsey restaurant Saltwater before taking the head chef position at the award-winning Waterfront Restaurant in Queensland, Australia.

Head chef David Witnall has been ever present since the couple picked up the keys in 2015 and is delighted with the progress made under them.

“We have a very high standard at Jesse’s and I think this sets us apart,” he said.

“We are a great independent restaurant and this is something that should be celebrated as should the work Amol, Vanessa and the team have put in to get us recognised by Harden’s, Michelin and hold on to two AA Rosettes.”

Jesse’s is situated in an old stable yard on Cirencester’s popular Black Jack Street.

Jesse’s is right behind Jesse Smith’s butchers, a stalwart of the street since 1808 and is where the restaurant takes its name.

It is no surprise that it is one of the restaurant’s key suppliers, with the menu offering contemporary British cuisine using modern cooking techniques.

David, 32, designed the menu, having been with the restaurant since 2009.

He has an excellent cheffing pedigree having worked at The Forest, in Birmingham's Marriott and five star - Swallow Hotel.
