  • THE Folk Camp Society will be at the village hall once again for one of their popular Folk Music Camps over the Bank Holiday weekend. Arriving tomorrow until May 30. The playing field will also be in use for the Folk Camp’s tents and camper vans during the weekend so some facilities will not be available to the general pubic.
  • THE village hall charity has given notice that their AGM will be held on Monday, June 5. The charity AGM gives residents the opportunity to elect six of the committee members. There will also be an opportunity to discuss plans for re-arranging the hall facilities which look likely to cost in excess of £100,000. All residents of Chedworth have a right to speak, make proposals and vote at this meeting. 
  • THE Hall Committee is struggling to retain officers and urgently needs someone to take over as secretary. 
  • THE recent concert with Chedworth Silver Band and the Purton Peartree Pealers, arranged by Alan Woodward, raised over £500 for the St Mary’s Purton roof fund. Members of the band also played for the Harvest Festival at Yanworth Barn last Sunday. The next engagement is the Fresh Air Sculpture preview on Saturday, June 10, followed by Stowell Park Gardens on Sunday, June 18.
  • WATER was running down Tuns Hill again last weekend following heavy rain. Remedial work is planned for the weeks of June 5 and June 17 during which the road will be closed, so hopefully this will be the last time the culvert overflows.
  • THE Parish Council has received an analysis of the Housing Needs Survey, among other data the survey shows just over a third (34 percent) of those who filled out the questionnaire would support some affordable development in the village, while 30 percent would not and 33 percent answered ‘maybe.’ 
  • PLANS for a mobile phone pole at the Diggers Field are progressing with routes for power lines the subject of a recent site meeting, CDC planners have been asked to defer a decision on the Calmsden road until the Diggers Field application has been determined.

  • THE From the Heart Gospel Concert returns on Friday, June 2. An eclectic mix of American Gospel, Classical, Folk Blues, Country and Jazz (sometimes all combined), featuring world class artists. The performers give their time and talent free, and all profits are for charity. 8pm. (doors open 7.30pm). Tickets £12 from thelittleboxoffice.com/northleachchurch. Profits to Christian Aid, Open Doors, and church funds.
  • A LUNCHTIME concert by Kampenkoret, from Oslo, Norway is on Saturday, June 3 1-2pm in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, Northleach. Entry free although there will be a retiring collection to contribute towards the choir’s tour costs.
  • FREE drop in children’s activities all day and Flax Making Workshop on Wednesday, May 31 from 10am-4pm at The Old Prison. Find out more about this useful and flexible plant and learn how to take the harvested plant and turn in to lots of useful materials.
  • THE support group P3, a community based support service operate a pop in session on Monday’s 9.30-11.30am at The Westwoods Centre. They can offer support with housing issues, tenancy matters, debt and benefit advice.
  • THE Active Together exercise class is held at The Westwood Centre, Northleach every Tuesday between 3-4 pm and there is a charge of £5. This class is aimed at those who are less active and need help with balance to prevent falls in particular. Also people with medical conditions who need gentle exercise to build up strength and co-ordination. The class can be taken either sitting or standing whichever is most convenient.
  • NORTHLEACH Mother and Toddler group meet every Monday morning at The Westwoods Centre from 9.30-11.30am during term time. Parents, carers and family members welcome with little ones from new born to pre-school. A great opportunity to meet new mums over coffee and biscuits whilst the children play and have a snack.
