TETBURY will be welcoming 25 children from a French town, along with the mayor of the town, for a long weekend of games, fun and sightseeing.

Mayor of Chatillon-sur-Indre Michel Hetroy and his wife, the deputy mayor and his partner, and 25 French children from Chatillon will be arriving in Tetbury tomorrow for a five-day trip, leaving on Tuesday morning.

A French team will also be hoping to compete at the Woolsack Races.

The children will sleep under canvas and will be joined by some local children camping out over the weekend.

A formal meeting will take place on Saturday morning followed by an afternoon of sports and an evening disco which will be open to everyone.

On Sunday, the children will visit South Cerney and take part in water activities with Tetbury children.

The exchange trip is part of an ongoing partnership between the towns.

Children from Tetbury's football and rugby teams visited the French town to play with children from 20 other European countries as part of Bastille Day celebrations in July last year.
