JASON FRAYLING from Cirencester ABC has fought his way into the finals of the England Boxing Minors & Schools Championships.

Frayling secured his place with a semi-final win over R Curtis from Allcomers ABC in the 45kg category at Milton Keynes on Sunday.

Frayling's opponent was much taller but he received a standing count in the first round when he could not deal with the Cirencester lad's onslaught.

The second round saw Frayling catching his opponent with fierce combinations which forced the referee to step in and stop the bout.

Jason, who was extending his unbeaten record to five wins, will now box in the Manchester final on Saturday.

Team-mate Sammy Varey will unfortunately not be joining him as he lost a narrow points decision in his semi-final against Repton's Harry Johnston in an all-action schoolboy bout at 35kg.

Ciren's ABA coach Simon Knowles said: "What an achievement. For three years in a row we have had a boy in the national finals. "Jason performed out of his skin, while Sammy was very unlucky but that's boxing.

"Cirencester ABC are all buzzing. We've had a great season and the finals will be our last show.

"Many congratulations to Tom Boswell and Ethan Frayling senior for all their hard work and commitment.''

Cirencester Amateur Boxing Club are currently looking for new premises as they have to vacate their present base in five weeks.

They would prefer a site in the Swindon area as a lot of their boxers live there.
