FIRE engines descended upon a house in Kemble after a bedroom went up in flames.

The fire happened on Friday, April 21 at 7.25pm at a house in Clayfurlong Grove.

A man was treated by ambulance staff at the scene for smoke inhalation. The fire was stopped at 8.30pm.

Two fire engines from Cirencester attended, and one jet, two hoses and two breathing apparatuses were used.

The cause of the fire was not determined and was not recorded as suspicious.

But neighbours said they heard a loud bang that they suspected was caused by an aerosol can exploding.

Daniel Demain, who lives near the scene of the fire, said: "We were alerted to the fire by the sound of the fire engines.

"There was smoke coming from the upstairs bedroom window.

"The window frame was hanging off."
