A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a Cirencester man in the eye has been released while investigations are ongoing.

42-year-old Paul Allen was stabbed in the eye on Thursday, April 20 and was sent to Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

The incident happened at about 6am at a house in St Michael's Road in Watermoor.

Gloucestershire Police arrested a 30-year-old man in connection to the incident on the same day at an address in Countess Lilias Road in Chesterton.

The man has now been released without charge but police said that investigations are ongoing with forensic inquiries relating to blood.

According to a witness at the scene, a man was seen throwing a brick through the window of the house in Watermoor before climbing in through the window.

After the suspect exited the house several minutes later, the witness said that the victim came out with blood on his face claiming he had been stabbed.
