A MOTORIST and her passenger were taken to A&E after their car collided with another vehicle on a roundabout near Love Lane Industrial Estate, causing traffic delays on surrounding roads.

The mum and daughter, who were reportedly taking their dog to the vet, collided with another vehicle on the Midland Road roundabout just down from Lidl this afternoon (Wednesday, April 12).

The black Honda Jazz they were travelling in suffered damage to its front passenger-side wheel and chassis, and the passenger airbag had been deployed.

The car was also subsequently left stranded on the roundabout before a passing recovery vehicle dragged it onto the pavement to allow traffic to ease.

Police were also at the scene.

Speaking at the roadside, the husband of the younger of the women said he had been called at 12.45pm by his wife following the accident.

He said both women had been taken to A&E and he believed his mother-in-law has dislocated her thumb.

“They both had a bit of whiplash,” he said, adding that “the car was stuck in the middle” of the roundabout following the crash.

“A kind passing recovery lorry just dragged it out of the way.”

The man was then waiting at the roadside for the car to be taken away.

Traffic on Bridge Road and Midland Road had been at a standstill following the incident, though by 1.50pm had returned to normal, with police leaving the scene around 2pm.
