  • THE next Kempsford Village Hall Cafe will be on Thursday, April 13 from 12-2pm. Apart from all the usual delicacies there will be an opportunity to support Parkinson’s Awareness Week by buying a cake to take home.
  • ON THURSDAY, April 20, there will be a Quiz Night at Whelford Village Hall at 7pm to raise funds to complete the extension. Teams of six max with a prize for the winning team. Tickets are £7.50 each to include supper.

  • THE monthly contact group will meet at 12.30-2.30pm on Friday, April 7 in Fairford United Church, Milton Street.

You will be able to meet friends old and new over tea or coffee and light refreshments.

  • IN conjunction with the Great British Spring Clean, Fairford Town Council is asking for volunteers to come forward to help with a Fairford Spring Clean litter pick around Fairford taking place on Saturday, April 8.

Appropriate equipment will be provided so please register your interest with the town council on 01285 712344.

  • MESSY Church, formerly known as Funday Sunday, will be celebrating Palm Sunday, April 9, in St Mary’s Church, Fairford.

Celebrations will start with a procession at 4pm plus activities and games and will finish with a party tea at 5.30pm. Contributions towards the tea would be welcome.

A list of items needed will be posted in the church porch – a plate of sandwiches, sausages, little cakes etc. Expenses can be claimed. If you would like to provide something towards the feast, please sign up on the porch list or contact Sarah on 01285 712074 or email stmaryslmt@gmail.com.

  • FORMER English rugby union full-back Jonathan Webb, winner of two Five Nations grand slam titles, has kindly agreed to come back to Lechlade to officially re-open Lechlade Pavilion following the arson attack and restoration. Jonathan officiated at the first opening in 1993. This will take place between 11am-12pm on Saturday, April 8.
  • LECHLADE Library is offering Easter Crafts and Activities for children. On Tuesday, April 11 drop in any time from 10am-12pm. Suitable for ages four-11. No need to book.

  • THE April bus walk will take place on Thursday, April 13. Meet at the Market place bus stop at 8.45 am – meet at Market Square bus stop to catch the 9.03 am 77 bus towards Highworth to Upper Inglesham. From there walk along edge of the Solar Farm, looking for fritillaries in wild flower meadow, cross the River Cole, and on to Buscot Village. There will be a short break at Buscot where there is a choice of using the tea room, or bringing your own drink/snack to eat by the lock. Arrive back in Lechlade around 12.30 pm. Distance approximately 5.5 miles.
  • KIND hearts and coronaries” is the title of the talk at the AGM of the Lechlade branch of the British Heart Foundation on Monday, April 10 in the back room of The New Inn in Lechlade. Wine/soft drinks will be served from 7pm and the formal meeting will begin at 7.30pm. Guest speaker is Tessa Cobb, cardiac nurse at the John Radcliffe Hospital. All welcome. No charge.
