A ‘DRUNK’ vandal has been reported to police after he allegedly smashed a Cirencester resident’s window and damaged a car in the early hours.
Leigh Chapman, who lives on Sheep Street, woke on Sunday morning to find four glass panes had been smashed at the front of his house, while a car, belonging to a friend, had been dented.
He said neighbours told him they had been woken in the early hours by a seemingly ‘drunk’ man – who they believed was “throwing bricks at their windows” at around 4.45am.
However, they then realised the man was actually throwing coins and appeared to be drunk.
“He presumably progressed down the road when he came to my house, which is set back from the road,” said Leigh.
He said there was a footprint on the white Maserati in his driveway, as well as a dent, while the front window of his house had been smashed.
While Leigh had slept through the incident, he said his friend, who was staying the night, had also been woken by the noise.
Leigh reported the incident to the police and a forensics officer and PC were both sent to the house on Sunday afternoon.
The alleged culprit also apparently dropped his ID card at the scene, according to Leigh, which he handed to police.
