THE Bull Hotel in Fairford has re-opened, following extensive refurbishment work.

The historic market place pub closed its doors six months ago while a revamp was carried out in the bars, kitchen and rooms.

But new landlord Sebastian Snow and his team are now ready to breathe new life into the 15th Century 21-bedroom hotel as their open for business.

James Arkell, brewery chairman, said: “The brewery’s investment in a substantial upgrade of the town’s most prominent building in Fairford market place will add real value to one of the Cotswold’s prettiest towns.”

The Bull’s new interiors include an 80-seater private dining room in the hotel’s original stable block at the back of the building.

The old block now has artwork across its ceiling and a garden courtyard.

“The Arkell’s family has lived in and around Fairford for generations, so the town has a particularly special place in our hearts,” added James. “It’s brilliant to bring The Bull Hotel right up to the 21st century.”

The bar was open at the end of March while the restaurants are set to open early this month.

The refurbishment work was temporarily halted after asbestos was found.

Speaking in December, an Arkell's spokeswoman said: "This is not at all surprising in a building of this age."
