Giant games are a big hit with pupils

PLAYTIMES at Uffington Church of England Primary School have just become even better with the purchase of seven new giant outdoor games. Local housebuilder Redcliffe Homes, which is building its Jack's Lea development in the village, made a donation to the school, whose pupils chose to spend it on the games.

Headteacher Lisa Bradbury delegated the decision on how Redcliffe's donation should be spent to the pupil-led School Council. Following discussions with their classmates, the School Councillors plumped for four giant Connect 4 games and three giant Draughts games. Lisa commented: "Like every other school, budgets are very tight at the moment so being able to buy this new equipment with Redcliffe's donation is incredibly welcome.

"Being right next to the road and with the playground having only a low wall, the children can't play ball games at playtimes so it is absolutely fantastic to have these giant games for them to play instead. The games have been extremely popular with pupils of all ages - and with staff too, who have definitely revealed their competitive streak playing Connect 4!"

Mandy Parker, Marketing and Sales Coordinator at Redcliffe Homes, added: "We always like to get involved with the communities in which we're building and it was clear that the School is very much at the heart of the Uffington community. I'm really delighted to see how much pleasure the children are getting from these games and I'm amazed at how quickly they have become so good at them!"

With another two sales this week, Redcliffe Homes now has just six homes left to buy on the Jack's Lea development, with 3,4 and 5 bedroom homes available from £325,000 to £600,000. Help to Buy is available on all homes.

Each home has been built using materials that complement the character of the village, while the whole development retains a village green feel, with footpaths leading off into adjoining woodland. All the homes are built to exceptional quality and energy efficiency and are enhanced by the particular emphasis on high quality design. The village of Uffington is well known for its beauty so the combination of the location and the quality of the homes has made this new development popular with both local people and those from further afield seeking to be part of village life.
