BIBURY Primary School children went back in time to celebrate VE Day as part of their study into World War Two.
As part of their studies, they visited Steam in Swindon where they took part in an evacuation and air raid simulation.
They also made shelters as part of a Forest Schools trip and interviewed people who were alive during the last war.
As well as writing about their studies, the children expressed themselves creatively and the classroom has been full of air raid shelters, military models, posters, research and 'make do and mend' items.
The topic culminated in a party where all children came in costume and entertained parents with songs and jitterbug dances.
The school hall was decorated with bunting that the children made from old sheets. There was also food, which included spam sandwiches and cakes, made by a parent from authentic wartime recipes.
Headteacher Suki Pascoe said: “The children have obviously enjoyed this topic and the quality of work they have brought in from work has been staggering.
"We are very grateful for all the support they have received from home to make this such a successful venture.”
