POLICE are warning pet owners to be wary of a cat shaver after a ginger cat in Lechlade was targeted.

The cat from an address in West Way had a hand-sized amount of fur shaved off from their body on March 19, sometime between noon and 10pm.

The incident has caused some distress to the animal and its owner.

Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

If anyone has any information about this, call 101 and quote Incident 89 of March 20.
