A BAKERY in Tetbury has been shortlisted for Baker of the Year at the Farm Shop & Deli Awards.

Hobbs House Bakery will find out whether they’ve won live at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on April 24 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Back for the fourth year by popular demand, the awards recognise the best in class in the specialist independent retail market.

Category awards are up for grabs across 12 different specialisms.

Nigel Barden, chair of judges, said: "It’s a joyous journey visiting the awards finalists around the UK and, with the standards being so high, it’s the attention to detail that really makes the winners stand out.

"It’s also apparent when staff have been well trained and crucially enjoy their work.

“Inspired, informed and enthusiastic folk behind the counter make a shopping experience so much better.”

Elaine Lemm, Co-chair of judges, added: “Whether a farm shop, market, bakery, deli or cheesemonger, a food hall, local shop or online retailer, discovering the wealth of talent, hard work and passion that goes into these businesses is one of the highlights of my working year.

“Out on the road meeting and getting to know everyone once again reaffirms to me how valuable the Farm Shop and Deli Awards are in recognising their dedication.”
