RESIDENTS in Gloucestershire will be electing county councillors to represent their area in May. 

The election for Gloucestershire county councillors for the period through to May 2021 will take place on Thursday, May 4.

Within Cotswold District, there are eight county divisions which will each be represented by one councillor: Cirencester Beeches, Cirencester Park, Fairford and Lechlade on Thames, South Cerney, Tetbury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Northleach and Campden-Vale.

Alternatively, anyone interested in standing as a councillor can contact the Cotswold District Council Elections Team, either by phone on 01285 623002 or by email elections@cotswold.gov.uk.

The formal Notice of Election will be published on Friday, March 24.

The deadline for nominations will be 4pm on Tuesday, April 4 April.

The Elections Team will be available to accept nomination papers between 9am and 5pm on any working day from Monday, March 27 to Monday, April 3, and from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday, April 4 April.

Completed papers must be submitted by hand.

To register to vote, the district council must receive your application by midnight on Thursday, April 13.

To vote by post, your application must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, April 18.

To vote by proxy, your application must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.
