JUST weeks after opening, a new Gloucestershire business was broken into and raided, according to the owners.

Trapped Escape Rooms, which opened on Eastgate Street in Gloucester last month, was burgled overnight between Tuesday, February 28 and Wednesday, March 1.

Laptops, CCTV system and tools were all said to be stolen.

Nearby children’s play centre Hi Jinx was also apparently raided, as was Paint Pot.

Already proving to be a popular attraction for many in the county, The Escape Rooms is a concept based around the Japanese online game Takagism as well as the Crystal Maze.

It includes solving puzzles to escape a locked themed room.

A statement on the company’s Facebook page, posted on Wednesday, said: “Sad to say that we have been burgled overnight.

“We've had a lot of valuable equipment stolen including laptops, CCTV system and tools.

“We can't show any footage as they have taken the hard drive.

“Very sad that this has happened in our first month.

“If any of these items are offered to you please get in contact with us.”

A later statement then said: “Forensics have been and police are checking all CCTV outside.

“It wasn’t just us that got hit.

“Hi Jinx play area and the Paint Pot got hit too.”

All of Wednesday’s bookings were cancelled but the venue was able to re-open as normal on Friday, March 3.

Trapped Escape Rooms took over the premises previously occupied by Liberty’s bar, next door to TNT.

Commenting on Facebook, Lorna Say said: “This is dreadful. I’m a volunteer at the Kings theatre, Kingsbarton Street, and we were broken into on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

“Had equipment stolen and we have a show on this weekend.”
