  • SOUTH Cerney Parish Council has approved its budget for 2017-18 with the precept set at £96,010. It was noted that due to a 33 per cent reduction in the local council support grant from CDC and a reduction in the parish council’s tax base compared with 2016-17, this would mean a reduction in income of 2.26 per cent. However, the precept to be paid to the parish council on a B and D dwelling will remain unchanged at £58.68 for the next year.
  • THE recent live music event at Cotswold Hoburne, organised jointly by the South Cerney Football and Cricket Clubs, resulted in a donation of £300 to the charity Cotswold Home Start.

  • DOWN Ampney Women’s Institute have been successful in their bid to adopt the village’s one and only red telephone box. The Shop Committee also submitted a bid, so the WI and the Shop Committee have met to discuss how the two organisations can work together with the village community on the upkeep of the box. The plan is to use the box as a village noticeboard and to involve the school to see if the children would like to take part in seasonal creative projects and display their work for the village to see.
