A LORRY collided with a parked car on Cricklade Street in Cirencester on Friday morning, causing lengthy traffic delays.

The black Audi was struck by the lorry outside The Wheatsheaf pub and shunted forward, blocking the road for several hours.

The incident was reported to police at 10.23am with the road at a standstill until 1.50pm.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “The drivers exchanged details. No further action is to be taken.”

A photo of the car, which suffered severe denting and damage to the bumper, appeared on Facebook group Spotted Cirencester 2 shortly after the incident.

The post was met with a flurry of comments blaming the recent refurbishment of the town centre road.

The car is seen to be parked at a diagonal angle and over the white line, alongside the lorry.

The administrator for the group wrote: “The Audi was about half a foot over the white line, but still. This happens all the time since the new road has been laid. The yellow line is a lot further back than originally. Needs to change ASAP.”

Bryony Robinson said: “It’s something every day since the Market Place has been done. Waste of time and money.”
