BUSINESSES have shown support for Malmesbury School, donating hundreds of pounds to its Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

The PTA received a cheque for £151.16 from Hyams Autos from the collection after the Christmas lights display at their High Street garage, and a further £200 from motor engineers Paul Clark Services.

The money will go towards tablets to help with interactive lessons.

Wendy Clark of the Malmesbury PTA thanked the businesses for their donations.

“It is only with the support of local companies and the community that we can raise funds to enrich the students' experience and to enable the school to provide extra equipment and facilities,” she said.

“We have recently bought extra microscopes for the science department.

“We are now looking at purchasing some tablets that interact with the school whiteboards that allow the children to really participate in the lesson.

“They are a great educational tool that can be used right across the school curriculum.”

The businesses, which both trade in and around Malmesbury, wanted to help the school buy new equipment and give something back to the community.

Paul Hyams said: “We have been trading here for more than 40 years and we like to give something back.”

“We have been doing the lights display for more than 30 years and donating the proceeds and it has got more and more sophisticated over the years. It is definitely a worthwhile cause.”

Paul Clark added: “We are happy to make a donation to Malmesbury School PTA Association. We are very lucky to have such an outstanding school in the area.”
