THE Goods Shed in Tetbury will be holding an open afternoon in March.

The arts centre which is still under development, will be open its doors on Wednesday, March 8, from 4pm to 8pm, to anyone who would like to find out about volunteering.

With the art centre's first event just weeks away, the performance venue and creative exhibition space will need volunteers.

People who might be able to lend a few hours each week are needed to work in the cafe, man the box office, clean and tidy up after events, put up posters, meet artists or offer them overnight accommodation, help in the office or simply usher during a performance.

The Goods Shed team also needs to add to its specialist knowledge and is asking for help from people with skills including first aid, fire safety, child protection, duty of care, equality and diversity, noise management and youth activities.

Volunteer events manager, Nicola Clark said: “The progress of The Goods Shed so far is very much down to the hard work and dedication of our small team of volunteers.

"And we are incredibly thankful for everything that everyone has done for us.

“But now we are about to open our doors to the public and that means there’s a huge amount of work to do to ensure our success continues as a working arts venue.

“Even if you don’t know what you could do, we’d love you to come along and find out more.

"Any help anyone can offer will be gratefully received, we want to meet you.”

The open afternoon also gives people the chance to visit the venue, see what is on offer and give their thoughts on what they would like to see featured at the arts centre in the future.

There will be a chance to look over new ideas on how to brand The Goods Shed and have a say in the design for the new logo.
