  •  CHEDWORTH Village Hall Committee has a Race Night in the hall on Saturday, March 4 at 7pm to raise money for better disabled facilities in the hall. Advance tickets to include a two-course supper £10. Late arrivals can enter free for the racing only but supper tickets must be purchased by March 1.   • THE parish council is once again encouraging residents to know their map references to assist emergency services to find them. The information is available from websites such as gridreferencefinder.com and mobile phone apps.
  • FOLLOWING advice from the ambulance service at the recent drop-in session, the parish council has agreed to show the lock codes on the three defibrillators in the village. Previously it has been necessary to dial 999 to get the codes which has made accessing the defibs unnecessarily difficult.
  • CHEDWORTH WI is seeking donations of jumble, bric-a-brac, etc for their jumble sale on March 18 at the village hall. The sale will open at 2pm with teas etc. For donations please contact Helen on 01285 720702 or Mick on 01285 720512, or take items to the village hall from 10am on the day of the sale.
  • THE parish council discussed the forthcoming Housing Needs survey at the last meeting and decided to ask for the price bands on the proposed form to be amended before the survey is circulated to residents with the Hill and Valley newsletter around March 1.

  • MANY small towns and villages around the country enjoy amateur dramatics groups (AmDram), involving all sorts of different people, many of whom have acting talents they did not know existed. Then there are others, perhaps, whose skills lie in stage management, set design, lighting, electrics, advertising/marketing; or even prompting actors when they forget their lines.   • THE Historical Society presents 'How to Make a Fortune in the Eighteenth Century' on March 1 at 7.30pm at The Westwoods Centre. Trade deals are much in the news today – but what was it like when trading with Asia began 300 years ago? Peter Covey-Crump unearths the documents of an English merchant in Bengal. Members free, visitors welcome (£3).
  • THREE Choir Concert takes place on Saturday, February 25. Be entertained by an incredible three choir concert in the wonderful setting of the Church of St Peter & St Paul in Northleach. Offering a broad range of music in different styles, the three choirs are: Ffrindiau, a youthful Welsh ladies choir established 40 years ago; Wine Direction, our very own local choir celebrating their first year together, and our very own church choir. Tickets cost £10 and are available from the post office, Fruitcakes and Castles Butchers. Bar opens at 7pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm.
