APPLICATIONS are now open for what is thought to be the largest boules tournament in the UK.
Sherston Boules is a highlight of the village’s calendar and last year teams flew in from France to compete in the annual event.
The contest celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016, after it was originally started by the village’s vicar, who took on a French team at a game of Boules in Gien, Malmesbury’s twinned town, before inviting them to Sherston for a return leg.
This year’s Sherston Boules will take place on Saturday, July 15.
Team places for the contest fill up quickly, so people are urged to sign up as soon as possible.
