ON the one hand, moving 43 households out of the Beeches estate shows Bromford’s commitment to its residents – after all, £4.5million is due to be spent bringing the homes up to scratch.

But, on the other hand, there will undoubtedly be some tenants who don’t want to move away from their home for up to two years.

Cirencester Town Council ward member Stuart Tarr called the homes “not fit for modern living” and, if Bromford’s plans go ahead, the estate will eventually have a block of state-of-the-art affordable flats.

But, once the current residents have moved away and settled in their new homes, will they all want to move back at an unspecified later date?

What’s more, it is unclear what will happen if certain residents refuse to move. Those homes have been there since the 1960s, with some residents likely having lived on the estate for years, if not generations.

Bromford could have a battle on their hands.
