THE site of Moreton-in-Marsh Hospital has been sold to specialist retirement developers Blue Cedar Retirement Homes (BCRH).

Perry Bishop and Chambers’ land and development team had been instructed to sell the old hospital site on behalf of NHS Property Services.

More than a dozen offers were received and, following further negotiations, terms were agreed with BCRH.

The hospital shut down in 2012 after the new £11m North Cotswolds Hospital opened, with a temporary order put in place protecting the Victorian parts of the building against future demolition.

At the time, Cotswold District Council said the order would be reviewed following any future re-development of the area.

Peter Chambers, Perry Bishop land and new homes director, said: “It was very pleasing to receive these instructions in competition with national agents and to have successfully completed the sale with the assistance of the professional team at NHS Property Services to Blue Cedar.

“The process has been quite protracted and has certainly required considerable perseverance and patience by all concerned.”
