FOUR teenagers were arrested in relation to a vehicle theft in Cirencester last week.

Police were called at 2.20am on Monday, February 6 by a resident who had witnessed what they believed was people breaking into vehicles in and around Bowling Green Road.

Officers and dog handlers attended, with a stolen silver Ford Fusion then stopped in the area before three teenage boys – aged 14, 15 and 17 – as well as one 16-year-old girl, all from Cheltenham, were arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft.

The car the group had travelled to Cirencester in was seized having been stolen that night.

Volkswagen Transporter and Vauxhall Vivaro vans were found to have been broken into on Bowling Green Road and Berry Hill Road, respectively.

Another incident, which the police are treating as possibly linked, saw the theft of a bicycle taken from a back garden in Bowling Green Avenue on the same night, and which is still outstanding.

It was a blue, yellow and green SCOTT 29 inch mountain bike worth £560.

The teens were all taken to cells and have been interviewed and released on police bail while further enquiries are conducted and forensic evidence is examined.

They will be answering bail on March 28.
