  • LLOYDS Bank will be introducing a part-time mobile banking service to Fairford on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at the beginning of April. The service will be shared with Highworth, whose Lloyds Bank branch will close on April 9. The new mobile facility will be parked in Fairford Market Place and will have disabled access and a hearing loop. Personal customers will be able to use the service to make deposits, withdraw cash and pay bills. Business customers will also have access to basic services.
  • FOLLOWING the ram-raid on the cash machine at Thornhill Garage last week, it is still possible to withdraw cash in Fairford from the Post Office and the internal cash point in Londis during opening hours and also ask for cash-back on transactions at the Co-Op. The manager of Londis is in the process of applying for planning permission for a new external ATM outside the London Road, Fairford shop. 
  • FAIRFORD Primary School PTA presents an evening of Bingo and Bangers on Friday, January 20 in the Palmer Hall, Fairford. This is the event that was originally scheduled for Saturday, December 10. Doors open at 7pm with “eyes down” at 7.30pm, £10 per ticket to include bangers and mash, five games of bingo and a raffle ticket, cash bar available. Tickets are available from the Primary School office, 7a Coffee Shop and Fairford Community Centre.
  • MAKING Space is on Saturday, January 21 between 2-4pm at Fairford Community Centre. Family crafts and coffee shop. This month’s theme is water with special craft: water bombs. For children aged between 4-12 years, £2 per child (max £5 per family). Contact Maureen Partington on 01285 712480.
  • THE League of Friends of Fairford Hospital wishes to thank Emily Wilsden and her sister, Alice, who ran the Oxford Half Marathon on October 9 in memory of Bob Warren former landlord of the Trout Inn, Lechlade. They raised the grand total of £705 for the League.

  • THE NEXT fundraiser for St Lawrence Church restoration and maintenance appeal is the grand curry night on Tuesday, January 24 at Khushi restaurant. There will be two sittings, at 6pm and 8.30pm. The curry buffet will cost £15 per person.   • THE Lechlade and District Lions held the annual Winter Seniors’ party last weekend in Fairford and Lechlade (see pictures above). In Lechlade they were able to use the lovely hall at St Lawrence School and were treated to party food and entertainment including a magician and Lechlade’s singing florist, Delores. Over the two venues around 100 senior citizens attended.
