CIRENCESTER Kingshill School welcomed professional rugby star Mat Gilbert to present their annual sports awards.
The school held their Sports Awards Evening on Thursday, November 24 where 170 awards were presented to pupils for outstanding achievement and most improved performances in school sport.
During an interview with year 11 school sports captain James Newman, Mat spoke openly about his experiences.
Headteacher Christine Oates and head of physical education Paul Hamblin, shared with the audience Kingshill’s various sporting events and achievements that took place over the last 12 months.
PE teacher Rosanna Steel and deputy headteacher Adrian Thomas encouraged reiterated the importance of taking part in physical activity and the power of sport to engage and inspire.
Awards were also presented to pupils who demonstrated outstanding commitment and responsibility as sports leaders within the school and the community.
Year 11 pupils Samuel Pauling and Samuel Lomas received the Leadership Cup and James Newman was honoured with the Sports College Plate, the main award of the evening.
PE teacher Amy Hussey and Paul Hamblin shared the Sports Coach of the Year Shield.
